Education New Zealand has a range of strategic partnerships and relationships that support the organisation and reinforce its industry mandate. ENZ and the New Zealand Ministry of Education have a partnership for the support of Export Education Industry Development Activities. The Agreement provides Ministry support for the range of initiatives delivered by the ENZ. ENZ also works in partnership with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to jointly manage the generic and collective marketing of New Zealand education internationally through the national export education marketing programme. In addition to the formalised partnerships with Ministry of Education and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, ENZ also has a range of other strategic relationships with key agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Tourism New Zealand and the Department of Labour. Internationally, ENZ has a range of partnership agreements and arrangements in place with organisations throughout the Asia-Pacific, the Americas and Europe. Pan Industry Strategy The review process involved a review of the rationale for a strategy and the overall industry environment, and critique of the 2004 strategy then discussion on a proposed 2007-2010 strategy document. It was proposed that the Industry Strategy should sit alongside the 2007 Government Strategy, forming New Zealand’s ‘NZ Inc’ Strategy on International Education. The strategy was developed over a period of five months in conjunction with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, the appointed reference groups. Discussion papers were circulated to the industry regularly and members were encouraged to feed their thoughts to their sector representative on the reference group. The reference group was made up of representatives from ten sectoral groups, plus regional fora and Government agencies. The reference group contained representatives of significant industry clusters from throughout the Industry. Each member came with a mandate to speak on behalf of their organisation and/or cluster of institutions.
